Ricki-Lee Coulter isn’t having children — and wants you to stop asking her about it.

In 2014 Coulter made headlines when an “insensitive” question prompted her to reveal in a radio interview she and now husband Rich Harrison didn’t plan on ever having kids.

Five years on and Coulter told Stellar her “completely personal” decision is still discussed and dissected.

“For me, it’s simply: I don’t want kids. People on the street ask me, ‘When are you and Rich having kids?’ Stop!” Coulter said.

Despite deciding not to have kids herself, the one-time Australian Idol contestant isn’t lacking in younger relatives.

“My mum and my sister had babies around the same time. I love being an aunty. We’ll stay up all night eating pizza, we’ll wake up and have a tub of ice-cream for breakfast and send you back to your parents — bye,” Coulter said.

Another narrative that still dogs the singer is her weight loss — back in 2009, Coulter lost 30 kilograms, but it still features prominently in stories about her.

“The fact that’s still part of a headline after 10 years astounds me. I put on a bit of weight because I was upset and getting divorced. I was emotionally eating. I was living a very unhealthy life, drinking a lot, eating rubbish. Everything was out of whack. Then I lost the weight,” she said.

“And I didn’t lose weight for Rich — it was my own decision. The balance shifted because I was happy and met someone who was a great person and my life changed because of that.”

Coulter will return to TV screens later this month as host on Australia’s Got Talent and will embark on several tour dates across Australia for the rest of the year.

Coulter was a contestant on the 2004 season of Australian Idol, making it to the top seven before she was eliminated.

She’s gone on to release four solo albums and was briefly a member of girl group the Young Divas.

Stellar is available now inside The Sunday Telegraph, Sunday Herald Sun and The Sunday Mail
