The NBA seemed set for a quiet trade deadline in 2025 as a new Collective Bargaining Agreement tormented teams with multiple luxury tax aprons and more punitive restrictions for increasing payroll.
So much for that.
The NBA trade deadline started with fireworks when the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers completed their stunning Luka Doncic-for-Anthony Davis swap over the weekend. That deal was immediately followed by a three-team trade sending De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs and Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings. There have been more deals along the way in the days leading up to the deadline, and now the buzzer is finally approaching.
