More than a dozen seals have been found dead after a second incident of bird flu has hit the north Norfolk coast, scientists have said.
Government scientists found that the virus had been detected in 15 dead seals during recent testing at Blakeney Point.
Further tests were conducted after two grey seals tested positive in Blakeney Point in February.
Details of the findings were posted online in a government statement.
Scientists concluded that bird flu may not have been the “sole cause of death” in this case.
They said: “We cannot determine with certainty whether influenza of avian origin was the sole cause of death in these wild animals, and it is possible other factors may have contributed.
“A total of 40 seal carcasses were sampled from the site and from that 15 tested positive.
