On the eve of the tour, Stepan Hauser, in his greeting to the Israeli audience, said: “Hello to all our friends in Israel! Finally, we are 2Chellos, we are going to your wonderful country and will perform in Tel Aviv on November 16! Don’t miss the last performance of the duet 2Chellos! This will be one of the best concerts of our tour. See you soon!”
2Chellos are two handsome cellists who were born into musical families and received a brilliant classical musical education – both studied at the most prestigious music universities in Europe and were students of the best teachers in the world. They also repeatedly became laureates of various international competitions. Having such a magnificent classical background, Luka and Stepan easily captivate connoisseurs of classical music with a filigree performance of works by Bach and Vivaldi, but after a few minutes they just as easily light up the audience with an outrageous version of the AC / DC composition.
The history of 2Cellos as a duet began when, after youthful battles at the most prestigious international competitions, Luka and Stepan decided not to compete anymore, but by combining their talents and love for music, they decided to show that there are no genre restrictions for them. As a result, the young virtuosos created their own style and achieved incredible success, bringing their favorite instrument, the cello, to a whole new level of sound and perception.
At first, 2Cellos chose the basis for their enchanting arrangements of the rock compositions of Guns N “Roses, Nirvana, The Beatles, Sting and Michael Jackson – the music that they loved even before they became a duet. It was a cover version of the song Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson brought them worldwide success and recognition in 2011, gaining more than 3 million views on YouTube in 2 weeks.Their self-titled debut album (2Cellos), released in May 2011, included arrangements of songs by U2, Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Sting , Coldplay, Nirvana, Muse and Kings of Leon In April 2011, in the wake of rising fame, the duo 2Cellos signed a record deal with Sony Masterworks and received an invitation to join Elton John on his world tour. rock music the duo collaborated with added George Michael, Andrea Bocelli, Zubin Mehta and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, producers and composers Bob Ezrin, T-Bone Burnet, Humberto Gatica, James Newton Howard. has been a guest at many major events, including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in the UK, the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, the FIFA Golden Ball Awards in Switzerland, and more.
Over time, the musicians came up with the idea to create covers of works written by their favorite film composers. So in 2017, the fourth album of the SCORE duo appeared, the first track in which is the composition of Ramin Javadi for the TV series “Game of Thrones”, where the exciting sound of the cello marks the beginning of the next series. This album also includes tracks from great movies in a new original performance: everyone’s favorite Oscar-winning theme from Titanic (My Heart Will Go On), John Williams’ composition from Schindler’s List, Vangelis from Chariots of Fire, and For the Love of a Princess from Braveheart, May It Be from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Now We Are Free inspirational track from Gladiator.
The beautiful sound of the cello, reminiscent of the timbre of the human voice, was ideal for such romantic works as Moon River by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Ennio Morricone’s compositions from the New Cinema Paradiso and Malena, Nino’s love theme Rota from The Godfather, Francis Le’s Oscar-winning tune from Love Story, Hans Zimmer’s theme from Rainman and Stanley Myers’ Cavatina from The Deer Hunter.
To date, 2Cellos have released 6 albums. They have over 20 million social media followers, over 6 million subscribers and 750 million YouTube channel views. But despite the huge popularity and availability of new hits on the Internet, musicians love to perform at “live” concerts. Their sold out performances have taken place in various parts of the world, including the USA, Japan, South America, Australia and Europe.
“We hope that listening to us, you will understand that the cello is a versatile and diverse instrument capable of playing the heaviest rock, the softest ballad and the most modern music,” says Stepan Hauser. “It has a whole palette of emotions, ups and downs .We’re trying to give you experiences you won’t get anywhere else.”
Power, pressure and expression, not inferior to a symphony orchestra, combined with a rich, melodious and soulful cello sound in a grandiose show of the world-famous duet 2Cellos!
