Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. (Regards from Asbury Parck,NJ) was the first studio album of the American musician Bruce Springsteen (Long Branch, 1949) next to the E Street Band. It was published by the label Columbia Records in january 1973.
It was about the revised version of an early discbut the work did not excite the record company until they completed it with two songs that would become their only singles, Blinded by the light y Spirit in the night.
On that record, with a cover that looked like a postcard, included Growin up, Mary Queen of Arkansas, Does this bus stop at 82nd street?, Lost in the flood, The angel, For you y It’s hard to be a saint in the cityin which the acoustic guitar and harmonica, among other instruments, are protagonists.
It wasn’t a huge commercial success, but it was. received praise from critics for the lyrical quality of the young singer-songwriter, who was inspired by what he saw and peppered his observations with humor. The critical endorsement he received helped the rise of Springsteen’s musical career.
Hammond, the discoverer of Springsteen
John Hammondlegendary producer and talent scout, was the one who heard the young Springsteen’s songs first in an audition, although he was more interested in listening to Bruce’s solo songs than those recorded with the E Street Band.

“This was the record that took us from very below zero to… one”summed up the artist at the end of his tour Working on a Dreamin 2009, where he played the entire album with his band in a historic and unrepeatable moment due to the death, in 2011, of the saxophonist Clarence Clemons.
As a curiosity, that Blinded by the light which today is the title of a film inspired by the work of Bruce Springsteen, only reached number one on the Billboard charts thanks to a 1977 version by the British Manfred Mann’s Earth Bandand it is his only number one after twenty albums and numerous awards.

Bruce Springsteen y The E Street Band return to the road in 2023. This new stadium tour in Europe will start on Friday April 28 at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona and will be followed by a second concert on Sunday April 30.
