Virginia Morrison 70 years old shot and killed a suspected robber that he had allegedly entered his house located in Orange County, Florida and did not leave, even after the woman fired a warning shot.
According to the newspaper FOX 35 Newsthe woman said she didn’t know what she was going to do, “but I did know she was going to protect me. I’m a fighter. I’m going to defend myself.”
The man identified as 38-year-old Ezequiel Rosario-Torres who had entered Morrison’s home on Sunday afternoon, where she tried to get him out by hitting him with a broom, but reportedly Rosario-Torres moved the object away so as not to continue being attacked.
“He chimed in, I turned around and said ‘who the hell are you? What do you want?’ Nothing. This guy never said a word the whole time he was here,” he said, after Morrison retrieved his gun and fired a warning shot,” andHe started coming towards me and I fired a shot over him. ‘Back off, mate!'” Morrison said. “And he kept coming at me. So I put my gun down and shot him.”
He notes that he didn’t notice when it hit him, “but once I looked, he had a hole in his jersey and I thought I hit him.” Police later arrived at the scene and found the suspect with a gunshot wound, however, Rosario-Torres was taken to a local hospital where he died.
“I have feelings,” he said. “I have God in my life. That’s the main thing, wondering if God is going to forgive me for taking a life. It bothers me.”
Morrison said that she and her partner Charlie, who is nearly 80, have been living in the house for almost 20 years and therefore “had to do what had to do to protect me and Charlie And I would do it again.”
“If I had to, but I don’t want to do that,” Morrison said, “I hope God can forgive me for taking a man’s life.”
