On Friday the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip The foldable phone was available for sale just a few days after the official announcement Samsung Unpacked Event in San Francisco, It comes a week after Motorola Razr – Another clamshell phone with a foldable screen – in stores. The Razr and Galaxy Z Flip have a lot in common, but they are also very different phones. Together, they represent some of the biggest design changes that need to be made phones in years.

If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a shiny new Galaxy Z Flip, there are plenty of amazing features to discover, like the tiny 1.1-inch pill-shaped external display and Flex mode. But there are some Android 10 Settings that you can change to optimize the Z Flip even more, especially for better one-hand operation.

Take a second Wipe the stains off your Galaxy Z FlipTake a moment to try these features.

Turn the Z Flip fingerprint sensor into a scroll wheel

The Galaxy Z Flip can only be used with one hand. And although Samsung OneUI 2 The user interface makes it easier to interact with buttons and windows. Reaching the top of the notification screen can still be painful. Fortunately, there is an Android setting that turns the fingerprint reader on the side of the phone into a capacitive scroll wheel to pull down the notification drawer.

To activate this function:

1. Go to The settings.

Second Tap on Advanced features.

Third Choose Movements and gestures.

4th Turn that Finger sensor gestures Slider on.

When your phone is open, slide your finger down from the top of the fingerprint sensor to pull down the notification drawer. Perform the same movement a second time to display the control panel. Swipe up on the sensor to close the control panel and drawer.

Take a selfie with the power button

When the Z Flip is closed, you can double tap the power button to open the outside camera for a selfie. The tiny 1.1-inch pill-shaped screen shows a cropped live preview.

To take a photo, either press the volume key or raise your palm to the camera to trigger a camera timer and countdown.

Master the small external display

In addition to being able to frame selfies when the phone is closed, the small external display has several other uses. Tap the power button to see the date, time, and battery status. Swipe right on the screen to view notifications. Tap one of the icons to see a short portion of the notification. When your phone is charging, the display shows the percentage of the battery and gives you an estimate of how long it will take for your phone to be fully charged.

Flex mode turns the Z Flip into a baby laptop

The Galaxy Z Flip’s hinge is stiff enough to stay open in any position. Samsung has optimized some apps to use the display when the phone is about half open. For example, if you open the YouTube app in Flex mode, your video will play in the top half of the screen, while comments will appear in the bottom half.

Here are other ways to use Flex mode:

  • Make Google Duo video calls.
  • In the Gallery app, scroll through the photos in the lower half of the screen like a trackpad.
  • Take a selfie hands-free.
  • Use it as a tripod to take photos, videos and hyperlapses.

Z flip split screen apps

The large 6.7-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 21: 9 is perfect for displaying Android apps with a split screen, one app on top of the other.

1. On the home screen, swipe up to see recent apps, or tap the Recent apps button on the navigation bar.

Second Select the app you want to display above and hold the app icon.

Third After a moment, a menu appears.

4th tap Open in split screen view.

5th Next, select the second app you want to display below.

6th Once in split-screen mode, you can hold down the separator bar to change the size of each app’s footprint.

Activate gestures for better one-hand operation

I found that swapping the traditional Android navigation bar for gestures made it easier to use the Z Flip with one hand.

To activate gestures:

1. Go to the settings,

Second tap display,

Third Choose navigation bar,

4th Next choose Full-screen gestures,

To use gestures, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get home. Swipe up and hold to see recent apps. Swipe right or left on the screen to return.
