A Contemporary Home in Connecticut for Writers

This contemporary house in Connecticut is that of a family of writers, and it was built as a secluded refuge in the forest. Designed by Scalar Architecture, made of wood and glass, it is built above a sloping ground. It was designed to have a minimal footprint on its environment, and to hide from prying eyes. It is only accessible on foot, or with a light commercial vehicle. Its concave roof, where rainwater flows into the patio, is one of its original architectural features. It collects water and allows light to diffuse widely inside. It also controls ventilation, for an efficient and comfortable living environment.
