A series of devastating tornadoes swept through the southern United States

At least 7 people were killed and 12 injured as a result of a series of tornadoes that swept over the southern states of the United States.

The destructive force of the swirling air mass was captured on video filmed in the Selma suburb of Alabama. Dozens of homes and businesses in the city were reduced to rubble or sustained significant damage.

Elsewhere in Alabama, a tornado has carved a 30-kilometer-wide path across the state.

In one area, a tornado reportedly tossed several mobile homes into the air.

As a result of the rampant disaster in Georgia and Alabama, more than 98 thousand consumers remain without electricity.

While residents return to their homes to assess the damage, emergency services are looking for people who may have been trapped under the rubble.

In recent weeks, the United States has been hit by a series of extreme weather events that many experts attribute to climate change.
