At the airport in Alabama, in the United States, a ground worker was accidentally sucked into an airplane turbinecausing his death, local authorities reported.
The National Transportation Safety Board of the United States (NTSB, for its acronym in English) released additional information about Saturday’s accident at the Montgomery Regional Airport, which claimed the life of an employee of an American Airlines subsidiary.
“The aircraft was parked at the gate with the parking brake set when a ground support worker was sucked into the turbine,” the agency said in the statement.
The crash, which involved an Embraer 170 jet, is under investigation and a preliminary report is expected in two to three weeks, the NTSB said.
