MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — An airline ground worker was accidentally sucked into an airplane turbine at an Alabama airport and died, authorities said.
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released additional information about Saturday’s crash at Montgomery Regional Airport, which claimed the life of an American Airlines subsidiary employee.
The agency said in a statement that “the aircraft was parked at the gate with the parking brake on when a ground support worker was sucked into the turbine.”
The crash involving an Embraer 170 jet is under investigation and a preliminary report is expected in two to three weeks, the NTSB said.
