Ak Chin Indian Community – Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

The Ak-Chin Indian Community is an Amerindian community located in the Santa Cruz Valley in Arizona. The community is primarily made up of the Pima and the Tohono O’odham, as well as other Yaqui members.

Ak-Chin is an O’odham word that means “place where the rain disappears into the sand or the ground”.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community has its own written form of the O’odham Language, which is from the Piman group of the Uto-Aztec language family.
