Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has banned government employees from using the TikTok app on government computers and other devices.

The decree on the ban on the use of the application was published on December 12 this year. The governor made the decision after discussing with the secretary of the information technology department the possibility of Chinese surveillance.
“Protecting the state of Alabama and our citizens’ privacy rights is imperative, and I certainly don’t take China’s security threat lightly,” Ivey explained in her letter to officials.
