“An epoch has gone”: the authorities of Karelia and Petrozavodsk expressed their condolences to the relatives of Tamara Yufa

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic and the administration of Petrozavodsk called the death of the Honored Artist of Russia an irreparable loss.

Recall that on the morning of October 6, Tamara Yufa died at the age of 86. Recently, Tamara Grigorievna was seriously ill.

“Today the cultural community of Karelia has suffered an irreparable loss. On the morning of October 6, Tamara Yufa, an outstanding artist who made a huge contribution to the cultural heritage of the republic, passed away,” the Ministry of Culture of Karelia said.

The ministry recalled that Tamara Grigorievna was born in the Lipetsk region, in 1956-1960 she studied at the Leningrad Art and Pedagogical School. Since 1960, she taught at a school in the village of Ladva, Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and in 1964 she moved to Petrozavodsk, forever linking her life and work with Karelia.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Yufa has made an invaluable contribution to the development of the fine arts of Karelia and Russia.

“Tamara Grigoryevna won recognition and love, first of all, as a book graphic artist, creating unique illustrations for the Karelian-Finnish epic “Kalevala”, fairy tales of G.-Kh. Andersen and Z. Topelius, to Karelian fairy tales and many other famous literary works. A lot of amazing fabulous images created by Tamara Yufa entered the golden fund of the republic’s painting. One of the most significant monographic collections of the author is stored in the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia, the most important point of attraction for the citizens and guests of Petrozavodsk, and has about 240 works,” the department noted.

The administration of the capital of Karelia recalled that in 2009, for outstanding services and a great personal contribution to the scientific, cultural and socio-economic development of the city, Tamara Grigoryevna Yufa was awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of Petrozavodsk” by the decision of the Petrograd Council.

As noted in the Ministry of Culture of Karelia, together with Tamara Yufa, an entire era has passed.

The staff of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic and the city administration express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Tamara Georgievna.

The time and place of farewell to Tamara Yufa will be announced later.
