Last fall, the National Football League announced that Apple Music would be the new sponsor of the NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show, replacing Pepsi. Almost four weeks before the event, it is clear that the “Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show” with singer Rihanna will heat up the big celebration.
Rihanna at the Super Bowl Halftime Show
Apple announced in September 2022 that the company would sponsor the Super Bowl Halftime Show for the first time, after Pepsi withdrew from sponsorship in February 2022. Initially, there were rumors that Taylor Swift would appear on the show, but Rihanna ultimately won the race. The singer follows in the footsteps of Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Co.
In a first trailer, Rihanna already touches the drum for Apple’s big show:
The cooperation is a great (and certainly expensive) opportunity for Apple Music to gain notoriety. According to the NFL, the 2022 Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show was watched by over 120 million people.
“Music and sports hold a special place in our hearts,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, “so we’re thrilled that Apple Music will be part of the biggest stage for music and football.”
In addition to the spot in its app, Apple Music also offers Playlists by Rihanna and NFL players, as well as videos from past halftime shows so fans can refresh their memories. Super Bowl LVII will be played on Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona.
