One or more perpetrators fired guns at spectators at a car show in a small US town, killing at least one person. After the first arrest, the police are looking for other perpetrators.
BAt least one person was killed and 24 others injured in a gun attack at a car show in Arkansas. State police said Sunday a suspect had been arrested. We are looking for other possible shooters. One person was killed when “shots rang out over a crowd attending a local car show,” according to local police. The perpetrator or perpetrators opened fire on the crowd in the town of Dumas shortly after 7 p.m. (local time/1 a.m. CET) on Saturday evening. The background to the fact is initially unknown. The investigations are ongoing.
The US broadcaster CNN, citing a children’s hospital, reported that at least six minors were among the injured. Her injuries are not life-threatening. “Six patients under the age of 18 were admitted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock with gunshot wounds, none of which were fatal. Most of the patients have been treated and discharged,” the hospital’s media officer told CNN.
The car show is organized annually by the Hood-Nic Foundation and aims to raise money for scholarships and school supplies for those in need, according to the organization’s website. This year the event took place for the 16th time. In a Facebook post, the organization said it was heartbroken and shocked by what happened at the auto show. “The purpose of Hood-Nic has always been to bring the community together,” the post continued.
