A baby was abandoned in a box on December 31 and managed to survive despite the bitter cold in Alaska. According to what was reported by the New York PostAlong with the baby, a note apparently written by his mother was found, where he explained the reason for his terrible decision.
At around 2 pm on Dec. 31, police responded to a call regarding the discovery of a baby, who was found by a Fairbanks resident, identified as Roxy Lane, at the intersections of Dolphin Way and Chena Point Avenue.
According to the police report, the baby appeared to have been recently abandoned at the site and was in good condition. After the discovery, Roxy Lane uploaded a video to her social networks where the baby is seen wrapped in a blanket and the heartbreaking note with which she found it.
In the message written by hand and in the third person, it is read. “Please help! I was born today December 31, 2021 at 6am. I was born 12 weeks premature. My mother was 28 weeks old when she had me. My parents and grandparents don’t have food or money to raise me. They never wanted to do this to me. My mother is sad to do this. Please take me and find me a family. My family begs whoever meets me. My name is Teshawn ”.
The newborn was transferred to a local hospital, where they confirmed that he was in good health. Meanwhile, the woman who found him said that she still cannot believe what happened.
“I have been processing my feelings throughout the day, and analyzing with my family the different scenarios and reasons why something like this could happen (…) Clearly, someone in our community felt so lost and hopeless that they probably took the harder decision to leave that innocent life on the side of the road with only a blanket and a name. But he gave it a name! there is some love in that, even when he made a bad decision ”, wrote.
The woman appealed to anyone who knows the child’s mother to help her, “because she must be in a desperate situation or feeling abandoned.” The woman affirmed that she will never forget what happened. “Today I saved a baby and I will most likely think about Teshawn for the rest of my life,” he wrote.
