Baggage handler dies after being sucked into jet engine

A baggage handler from an American Airlines subsidiary was killed instantly in an accident on Saturday, December 31 around 3 p.m. at Montgomery Regional Airport (Alabama), in the United States.

The employee, father of two children, who was part of the ground handling staff, was sucked into the engine of an aircraft immobilized on the runway. He was killed instantly.

The plane, an American Airlines Embraer E175, was parked near the gate, handbrake applied. He should have taken off again later in the direction of Dallas. The flight was canceled after the tragedy.
