Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin Tests Positive for COVID-19

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the following statement released by the mayor’s office.

Birmingham Mayor Randall L. Woodfin is home recovering tonight after testing positive for COVID-19.

Mayor Woodfin took a test this afternoon and received his results tonight. He works from home, still managing city affairs. It will continue with the self quarantine.

“COVID-19 has reached my door. I have tested positive, but my symptoms are currently mild, ”said Mayor Woodfin.

“Everyone, remember that COVID is real. Take care, protect your loved ones and yourselves.

Birmingham City Police Chief Patrick Smith will also be in quarantine, awaiting a test result, after he appeared alongside Mayor Woodfin at an end-of-the-year Tele-Townhall on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a representative from the Birmingham Police Department, Chief Smith is feeling fine and does not experience any symptoms of COVID-19.
