Borderlands: Tim Miller replaces Eli Roth for reshoots

But what happens behind the scenes of the film Borderlands from Lionsgate? While reshoots are underway for 2 weeks, rumors have evoked the dismissal of director Eli Roth, replaced by Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator – Dark Fate). We take stock…

Deadline gives us a little insight into what’s really going on. Roth has handed over the reins of the reshoots to his friend Miller, as he has to get to work on Thanksgivingthe horror film based on a dummy trailer he made for the film Grindhouse by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Roth was not fired, despite a flurry of speculative reports to the contrary.

The trailer of Thanksgiving featured the gory teaser for a pseudo-movie in which a slasher carves up the residents of a Massachusetts town on the annual Turkey Day. One of the scenes featured Roth himself, beheaded while in love with a rider in a convertible. The video was popular enough to consider making a feature film with Roth at the helm, but 15 years have passed since the original release of Grindhouse and we could think that Thanksgiving would never happen. Filming is now scheduled for March with a screenplay by Jeff Rendell, and Spyglass production with Roth and Roger Birnbaum as producers.

Miller, as part of an amicable passing of witness, will do a few weeks of reshoots on Borderlands. In the film, Lilith (played by Cate Blanchett before she turns Tr) is a nefarious outlaw with a mysterious past, who reluctantly returns to her home planet to find the missing daughter of the mighty Atlas (Edgar Ramirez). She will form an alliance with an unexpected team: Roland (Kevin Hart), Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and Claptrap (Jack Black). These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe may be in their hands – but they will be fighting for something more: each other.

Based on the video game of Gearbox and 2K, the scenario of Borderlands is signed Craig Mazin and Roth. Avi and Ari Arad are producing the film under their Arad Productions banner, alongside Erik Feig via PictureStart. Executive producers are Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Entertainment Company and Strauss Zelnick, president and CEO of Take-Two Interactive.
