The South American country will be the fourth UNWTO office in the world
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will host its office for the Americas in Brazil, reported the South American country.
The decision was made during a discussion during the organization’s 24th General Assembly held in Madrid, Spain, last December.
Likewise, Brazil announced that the new UNWTO headquarters will begin operations in 2022 with the aim of attracting investors.
It will also be in charge of generating studies on the tourism sector in Latin America and the development of a Tourist Support Portal.

Similarly, Brazil pointed out that the arrival of the UNWTO office will generate opportunities for the development and creation of Startups.
From the new headquarters of the UNWTO, the Rio de Janeiro country must support the actions of the organization that are developed around the world.
“Brazil was chosen for its proposal in innovation, qualification and promotion of destinations, enhanced by its economic position at the regional level”, detailed the UNWTO.
For his part, Gilson Machado, Minister of Tourism of Brazil, indicated that tourism focused on natural territories is increasingly sought after.
While Zurab Pololikashvili, general secretary of the organization, congratulated the minister and the president of Embratur for the new headquarters.
According to data from Tourism in Brazil, currently the country has already recovered 88 percent of its tourist flow since the beginning of the pandemic.
Similarly, its airlines recovered 80 percent of their routes and operations, along with some hubs that are already 100 percent.
