Nothing will come of the envisaged mega deal: The chemical distributor Brenntag (Essen) has ended talks for a takeover of the important US competitor Univar Solutions (Downers Grove, Illinois / USA), as a spokesman confirmed when asked. He did not give any information about the reasons.
The Essen-based company intends to continue growing through acquisitions and strategic mergers. In November, it then announced that it was holding preliminary talks for a possible takeover of Univar. If an agreement had been reached, a retail giant with an annual turnover of the equivalent of almost EUR 30 billion would have emerged.
