Tijuana, Baja California (TorosDeTijuana.com-Armado Esquivel).- Toros de Tijuana will celebrate its first week away from home and the initial stopover will have verification in Aguascalientes to face Rieleros from Tuesday to Thursday at the Alberto Romo Chávez stadium, when the 2022 season of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) is reactivated.
The border team began the campaign with a record for runs scored at home during the inaugural series, scoring 23 on Saturday against Diablos Rojos del México during the third duel in the friendly confines of Chevron Stadium.
Despite the offensive deployment to close the series at home, Toros de Tijuana lost the stay by giving up the first two matches and now they will seek to match their record in their visit to the “andén”, where the locals won two of their three duels against Mariachis de Guadalajara at the start of the campaign.
The history between “bureles” and “hidrocálidos” is enough, since they accumulate 59 regular season confrontations and the balance favors the Tijuana squad with 39 victories, for twenty of the “convoy”.
In 2021 they met six times and the “burels” won five of six games and have won the most recent four series played, two of them in the Colonia Héroes park that they will visit tomorrow. Toros has won eleven of the most recent thirteen regular season games against Rieleros.
In the playoffs they have met in three series and Tijuana has won all of them.
For the duels from Tuesday to Thursday in Aguascalientes, Homar Rojas, manager of Toros de Tijuana, announced that his starters will be Tyler Alexander, Manny Barreda and Tanner Anderson (0-1; 3.60).
For Alexander it will be his presentation with the defending champion, while Barreda will have his first start with Toros in the regular season since August 24, 2019 when he passed the ball against Sultanes de Monterrey at the Chevron stadium and Anderson will make his second start in this New cycle.
The rotation that the helmsman Luis Carlos Rivera could use to receive the “horned” would be made up of José Carlos Medina, Ulises López and Érick Leal (0-0; 2.25).
The largest number of runs that Toros de Tijuana has scored against Rieleros de Aguascalientes was 22 on June 15, 2021 in a 22-2 victory at the Alberto Romo Chávez stadium. For its part, the “rail” team had already made 22 runs against the Tijuana residents on April 9, 2019 on the same “platform”.
Those 22 touchdowns mean the highest number of runs against for Toros de Tijuana in its history.
The first time these two teams met was on March 30, 2004 at Chevron Stadium and the “hydrocálidos” won 6-2.
The duels from Tuesday to Thursday between Toros and Rieleros are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. (Tijuana time).
