Colorado: snow smothered fires; the flakes extinguished the last embers

The heavy snowfall that fell on New Year’s Eve in Colorado smothered the fires that ravaged part of this mountainous state in the western United States.

According to Governor Jared Polis, at least 500 houses have gone up in smoke, tens of thousands of people have had to flee and it is “a miracle” that no deaths have been reported so far.
