WASHINGTON – Following the Supreme Court’s historic decision, a number of conservative US states have already announced or implemented far-reaching abortion bans. Alabama Governor Kay Ivey said on Friday that a 2019 law that was previously blocked by a court should now be allowed to go into effect. “In 2019, I was proud to sign the Alabama Safeguarding Life Act, which is one of the toughest abortion bans in the country,” Ivey said. The law prohibits almost all abortions. Doctors who perform an abortion face life imprisonment.
