Connecticut is the first state in the United States in which half of all adults are fully vaccinated, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed on Monday as the national rate of daily injections continued to decline from levels peak.

At the same time, the US epidemic is showing signs of slowing, with reported cases, hospitalizations and deaths all trending down. Over the weekend, the rate of daily infections fell below 50,000 a day for the first time since October.
