The mocking fate of Clark Gable

Actor Charlton Heston stated in an interview with the American periodical National enquirer which was Marilyn Monroe’s irresponsible conduct during the filming of The displaced to cause the death of Clark Gable. “In fact Marilyn killed Gable by leaving him waiting on set day after day in sweltering heat,” he said. That film was shot in the Nevada desert: the heat tormented the crew and particularly Gable who, almost sixty, was already suffering from the hard diet he had undergone before filming began.

“During the movie Marilyn was always in her trailer forcing everyone to wait for hours,” Heston revealed. In fact, it appears that Monroe refused to work until late afternoon. “She was the most irresponsible woman who had ever worked on a film,” accused Heston, recalling the strong bond of friendship that united him to Gable. “Clark was the biggest star I’ve ever met.” Maybe that’s why he never forgave Monroe for her behavior.
