The Department of Financial and Professional Regulation of Illinois (IDFPRfor its acronym in English) announced that 2022 broke records for sales of cannabis for adult use in all the categories it registers. By Case: Number of items sold, total sales to Illinois residents and out-of-state sales, and total sales per month, reported NewsChannel20.

For the year, Illinois adult-use cannabis stores sold more than $1.5 billion worth of products – an increase of more than 12% over 2021 and 131% over 2020.

A total of 36,435,129 items were sold at Illinois adult-use marijuana dispensaries in 2022, representing a 20% increase from 2021.

Sales to Illinois residents are estimated to total $1 billion, while sales to non-Illinois residents are estimated to total $479 million.

There are currently 113 adult-use cannabis dispensaries in Illinois, including the first three social equity dispensaries that opened in 2022. Illinois issued nearly two hundred new licenses retail sales this year, which are expected to change in 2023.

What are the top five Illinois cannabis companies?

Cresco Labs (OTCQX:CRLBF), a company founded and grown in Chicago, has at least 1,150 full-time employees in the metropolitan area, six dispensaries in the Chicago area and several throughout the state.

PharmaCannbased in Chicago, Green Thumb Industries (OTC: GTBIF) y Summer (OTCQX:VRNOF), are ranked two, three, and four, respectively. Next up at number five is Curaleaf (OTCQX:CURLF), headquartered in Massachusetts, has the largest presence in Chicago, with 400 local workers.
