Representatives of the city of Frankfurt, the Roman factions and local advisory councils met on Monday afternoon at the Frankfurt police headquarters for an information meeting before the planned clearing in the Fechenheim forest. According to the announcement, representatives of the motorway company also took part in the meeting about the forest area in the east of Frankfurt.

Before the meeting, spokesmen for the activists who are occupying the disputed and currently closed forest area announced that they would not come to an “instrumentalization talk”. Instead, according to the police, around 100 opponents of the clearing gathered peacefully in front of the headquarters.

The planned expansion of the A66 with the Riederwald tunnel could fall victim to around 1000 trees in the east of Frankfurt. The evacuation is expected to begin this week.

The further construction of the A66 and its connection to the A661 with the planned tunnel have been a much-discussed topic in Frankfurt since the 1980s.
