EU. Crash between two planes leaves three dead in Denver, Colorado

Two small planes collided in mid-air on Saturday near Denveran accident that left three dead, authorities reported.

The two occupants of one of the planes were found dead in the wreckage of the plane and the occupant of the second was also found dead in a separate location, Boulder County police said in a statement.

The crash occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The identities of the victims have not been released.

The National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement posted on Twitter that it is investigating the collision between a single-engine Cessna 172 and a Sonex Xenos light aircraft near Longmont, Colorado.

Longmont is about 30 miles north of Denver.

The Sonex Xenos is a homebuilt, low-wing, aluminum light aircraft that seats two. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a popular single-engine aircraft that seats four.
