Why it matters
The attempted hijacking occurred on August 24, 2021, when a FlyDubai copilot, Zakharyan Davidov, attempted to hijack a flight from Dubai to Rostov-on-Don. The incident was thwarted, and Davidov was subdued by passengers and crew.
