Carriers Discount iPhone 18 Pro and Offer Free Previous Models

Major US carriers are discounting current hardware and offering free previous-generation devices as the smartphone market responds to the latest releases. T-Mobile is providing the Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro for free to customers who sign up. Verizon has introduced promotions available through October 8 that include free iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17 units alongside Apple Watch and iPad bundles. Competitors regularly discount various Apple models, while current device lineups pair higher-end variants with lower-cost phones from the previous year.

   Why it matters

The smartphone market relies heavily on carrier subsidies and promotional bundles around product launch cycles to drive activations. Consumers face complex choices between upgrading to the latest hardware or taking advantage of steep discounts on prior generations. Promotional windows from major providers often shift rapidly following initial launch periods.

   What is confirmed

   • T-Mobile is offering the Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro for free to customers who sign up.
   • Verizon launched iPhone promotions through October 8 that include free iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17 offers alongside Apple Watch and iPad deals.
   • Cellular carriers in the United States regularly provide discounts and offers on numerous models of Apple's iPhone.

Carrier Deals Emerge for iPhone 18 Pro Launch

Carriers are rolling out major promotions alongside the global release of the iPhone 18 Pro series, which features new color options and a familiar design. Consumers can secure the device through specific trade-in offers or new lines at carriers like T-Mobile. Meanwhile, Verizon is bundling a free iPad and Apple Watch with the purchase of an iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max. Reviewers note that while the hardware is predictably excellent, buyers face choices regarding whether to upgrade immediately given current pricing dynamics.

   Why it matters

The iPhone 18 Pro launch follows reports of a price increase driven by memory constraints and AI demands. Market reception includes muted initial wait times in key regions and fast deliveries in India. Shoppers are weighing these launch promotions against persistent high prices for older refurbished models and discounts on competing foldable devices.

   What is confirmed

   • Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro series with new color options and a design similar to the previous year.
   • T-Mobile offers the iPhone 18 Pro with a trade-in or new line.
   • Verizon offers a free iPad and Apple Watch with the purchase of an iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max.

   Still unconfirmed

   • Amazon is not discounting new iPhone models yet.

   What to watch next

   • Monitor subsequent carrier trade-in requirement adjustments as early promotional windows close.
   • Track whether retail demand shifts for older refurbished iPhone models following launch week.
