Donald Trump passed over for Nobel Peace Prize he's long coveted

President Donald Trump has been passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize, with the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarding the honor to South African lawyer Navi Pillay on October 9. Trump made a last-minute push in the Oval Office arguing he deserved the prize for intervening in global conflicts. Following the announcement, Trump lashed out at the Nobel Committee, disparaged Navi Pillay, and claimed he should have won eight Nobel Peace Prizes. The denial marks another missed opportunity for an award he has spent the last two years openly campaigning to receive.
