Why it matters
Severe weather events compound the humanitarian crisis in Syria, where vulnerable populations reside in displacement camps with limited protection against severe elements. The destruction of bridges and roads isolates flood-hit regions like Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, hindering emergency response and humanitarian aid access. Infrastructure fragility across the country intensifies the impact of seasonal storms, threatening internally displaced persons.
