Why it matters
The 2026 holiday travel period is heavily impacted by macroeconomic pressures on the airline industry, specifically climbing oil prices. These cost increases directly translate to higher ticket prices for consumers trying to visit family during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Regional airports and national carriers alike are reporting elevated demand paired with constrained pricing capacity.
