New details reveal how Israel protected Hezbollah pager operation after suspicions emerged
Israel took covert measures to prevent Hezbollah from discovering booby-trapped pagers before their September 17, 2024 detonation. Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant revealed that in early August 2024, Israel identified and killed a Hezbollah member who suspected the devices were compromised. To mask the assassination, Israel presented the strike as a misidentification or an attempt to hit a different target. Additionally, Israel carried out an airstrike to destroy Iranian inspection equipment sent to test the pagers, ensuring the plot remained hidden until activation.
