Archaeologists find 1,800-year-old Roman child's sarcophagus in Romania

Archaeologists from the National History and Archaeology Museum of Constanța discovered an intact 2nd-century Roman child's sarcophagus near the ancient city of Tomis in modern-day Constanța. The sealed burial contained a well-preserved wooden coffin holding the remains of a young child. Recovered items include clay toys, such as a rooster-shaped rattle, bronze amulets including two bulla pendants, and floral offerings. The find occurred during preventative excavations conducted before construction work on the western coast of the Black Sea.
