Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra May Feature DC Dimming

Samsung may finally introduce DC dimming to its upcoming smartphone lineup, with reports indicating the feature is planned for the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra models. Eye strain has long been a known issue for users of Galaxy phones due to traditional display flickering, a problem already addressed by competitor devices. Industry observers note that the inclusion of DC dimming alongside the latest M16 OLED technology could resolve a key display limitation that previously deterred some buyers from upgrading. Samsung Display is reportedly preparing to begin production for the upcoming generation.

   Why it matters

Past Samsung flagship models relied on pulse-width modulation for brightness control, which can cause noticeable eye fatigue for sensitive users at lower brightness settings. Rival manufacturers have adopted DC dimming to mitigate this issue, placing pressure on Samsung to update its display hardware. The upcoming integration aligns with expectations for next-generation display panels.
