Saudi Arabia Vows Response After Airport Strike Kills 12

Saudi Arabia promised a decisive response following a Houthi strike on Riyadh's international airport that killed 12 people and injured 309. The assault marks the deadliest attack on Saudi soil in more than a decade. A separate projectile struck a terminal at the airport a day after the initial missile strike, according to the Saudi-led coalition. President Donald Trump stated he is going to look at joining Saudi Arabia in the fight against the Iranian-backed rebels. The Saudi health minister visited survivors of the attack as the kingdom evaluates its strategic choices.

   Why it matters

The attack occurred during an unprecedented wave of Houthi strikes on the kingdom after a truce in the long-running war with Yemen's Riyadh-backed government unravelled in July. Saudi Arabia faces stark choices as the rebels target the heart of its ambitions. The repeated security breaches raise questions about why Houthi missiles are breaking through Saudi air defences.
