Southwest Expands Sarasota and Austin Routes for Summer 2027

Southwest Airlines is adding summer flights at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, bringing back a Saturday-only route to Austin, Texas, and increasing service between Sarasota and Kansas City, Missouri. According to an airport news release, both seasonal summer routes will run from June 3 through August 2. Additionally, the carrier is launching seven new routes from Austin in June, featuring three international nonstop destinations to Nassau, Bahamas, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Liberia, Costa Rica. The updates form part of an eleven-route summer expansion across fifteen cities.

   Why it matters

The additions form part of the carrier's largest-ever summer schedule for summer 2027. The expansion broadens direct connectivity to tropical destinations and domestic hubs from key southern airports. Regional airports like Sarasota-Bradenton are seeing frequency boosts on popular holiday pathways to meet seasonal demand.
