Switch 2 players Can Claim a Free Copy of The Witcher 3 Thanks to a Loophole

Nintendo Switch 2 players discovered a loophole allowing them to claim a free digital copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. The remaster launched on September 29 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, priced at $59.99 for new buyers. The upgrade is officially intended to be free for owners of the original Nintendo Switch version. However, users found they can unlock the digital version even by using a borrowed physical cartridge of the original game, and do not need to keep the cartridge afterward.

The recent arrival of the remaster on the Nintendo Switch 2 changed this by introducing a dedicated new-gen version. This release also coincided with the game hitting its highest-ever Steam concurrent player count following the remaster launch.
