Why it matters
The expanded British deployment follows continued regional security threats tied to the Yemen conflict and Iran-backed Houthi forces. Analysts note that outside actors are increasingly being enlisted to present a capable front and push combatants toward negotiations. However, the British mission carries inherent risks of drawing reprisals from Houthi militants against UK personnel and assets.
