A qualifying round game for the final leg of FIFA 20The FUT 20 Champions Cup had to be determined by a round of virtual rock, paper, scissors if the competitors could not establish a connection.
The FIFA series subreddit Reports of game issues were released this morning in the esports tournament qualifying round, one of which was resolved by Roshambo. Another player delayed an elimination game, apparently when he could not connect as long as his opponent could.
Polygon contacted EA Sports representatives this afternoon to find out more about what happened in qualifying and how it was resolved. There was no response before the release.
Shaun “Brandsha” Galea, a FIFA professional currently ranked second in the Malta ePremier League, says he lost about rock, paper, scissors when he and his opponent, Hasan “Hasoo19” Eker, could not find or invite themselves to play in their licensed qualifier.

Levy Frederique, a Dutch professional for M10 Esports, said he then chose FaZe Clans Tassal “Tass” Rushan try to connect for more than three hours,

(For his part, Rushan denied that he tried to “frame” Rushan and said his anger should go against the administrators of the FUT Champions Cup.)
FIFA 20 was among several Electronic Arts games Server failures suffer on Thursday, although that was apparently resolved later on Thursday afternoon. It is unclear whether these problems are related.
The FUT 20 Champions Cup is a series of major-level tournaments that are all about one-on-one battles among professionals Global series 2020, The players fight for qualification points and a place in the eWorld Cup 2020.
Each stage offers 2000 points for first and second place finishers (and $ 50,000 and $ 30,000 respectively). The fourth stage ended last week with the Brazilian Zezinho first South American player to win a FUT Champions Cup, The 5th stage takes place from April 3rd to 5th.
