(NEWS NOW) .- A Raging fire consumed three units of this apartment complex in Silver Spring causing the temporary evacuation of all residents and the displacement of their families, while a firefighter is hospitalized after being injured in his attempt to contain the strong flames.
Shortly before 12 noon, the Montgomery County Fire Department responded to an emergency call at the 4-story apartment complex on 95 East Wayne Avenue.

Oscar Garcia, captain of the fire department said that “When the firefighters arrived and observed that there was a fire on the third floor the hallway was filling with smoke but then the fire went up to the fourth floor and then to the ceiling. All were evacuated ”.
According to Óscar García, the captain of the fire department, the tenants were evacuated for approximately 3 hours while the firefighters worked to put out the fire.
According to García, the cause of the fire is still unknown but it is believed that it was due to an electrical problem in the kitchen.
Luis Marchan, owner of one of the units, said that “You have to be very careful with electrical things during these seasons to prevent fires.”
According to the fire department, they estimate that the damage caused is approximately $ 500,000. The 3 displaced families are receiving help from the Red Cross.
