A Broward County woman is facing multiple charges, including child neglect, just days after winning the lottery.
Amanda Walkes, 37, was arrested Wednesday on charges including child neglect with great bodily harm and witness tampering and criminal conspiracy.
According to the arrest report, Walkes tried to force a minor to falsely change his story about being sexually abused by Walkes’ boyfriend, Earen Huings.
Huings, 49, was arrested on multiple charges of sexual assault last month, Broward jail records showed.
The arrest report says the abuse occurred over about five years.
Walkes used pressure, threats and intimidation to try to get the boy to drop the charges or recant, according to the report.
During his appearance in bail court, prosecutors said Walkes won $50,000 in the lottery last week. Records showed Walkes’ name and said he won via a “Cash Blast” Scratch-Off.
Walkes, who was arrested in Coral Springs, was held without bond.
