Foo Fighters confirm their first concerts in 2023 without Taylor Hawkins – Music and Books – Culture

Almost ten months after the death of their drummer, Taylor Hawkinsthe band Foo Fighters confirmed that it will return to the stage this 2023.

Through their social networks, they announced the first three stages in which they will be presented in May and June.

On December 31, the band published a message that filled fans with hope, who did not know if there would be Foo Fighters music again or if they would do more concerts: the members -led by Dave Grohl- announced that they will continue making musicalthough they recognized that without Taylor Hawkins, the drummer who died in Bogotá in March 2022, they will not be the same.

In the statement, they assured that they “will meet again very soon” with their followers, despite the absence of Hawkins. “Without Taylor we would never have become the band we were and without Taylor we know we are going to be a different band in the future,” he read.

“We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he did to you. And we know that when we meet again – and we will soon – he will be there in spirit with all of us every night.

In the last few hours, doubts about his return have been completely cleared up, since the group confirmed the dates of their next three concerts in the United States. They will be on May 26, May 28 and June 18 at the Boston Calling festival, at the Bonnaroo festival and at the Sonic Temple Fest, respectively.

These events will take place in the American cities of Boston (Massachusetts), Manchester (Tennessee) and Columbus (Ohio).

On March 25, 2022, Taylor Hawkins, the band’s drummer, died in Bogotá before the group’s expected presentation at the Estéreo Picnic festival that year.

Two concerts in tribute to Hawkins were held six months later: on September 3 in London (England) and on September 27 in Los Angeles (United States).

AC/DC, Queen, Rush, Queens of The Stone Age, Jane’s Addiction, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, among others, came together on September 3 to pay tribute to him in an emotional concert that was broadcast live from Wembley Stadium. .

The group, which has been on the music scene for nearly 30 years, is remembered for hits like Everlong, Learn to Fly y My Hero, among others. Hawkins’ tragic death led his bandmates to cancel their ongoing world tour and even such important performances as a long-awaited appearance at the 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony.
