Former Chicago Bears star Michael Richardson charged with Arizona murder

The Maricopa, Ariz. County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday that former Chicago Bears All-Pro cornerback Michael Calvin Richardson was a suspect in the fatal shootout Tuesday of Ronald Like, 47, in Phoenix.

Police responded to the shooting on Tuesday morning and found Like with a serious gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

Richardson, 59, was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder, misconduct involving weapons and a felony arrest warrant. He was held in a Maricopa County jail where he is being held without bail, according to online jail records. He is due in court on January 7.

Richardson was a Super Bowl champion with the 1985 Bears and a starter in their famous defense. He played college football at Arizona State University (1979-1982) and is a member of the Sun Devils Hall of Fame.
