Four-star QB Eli Holstein, form Texas A&M commit picks Alabama

Alabama got a commitment from a Class of 2023 quarterback from Louisiana.

Eli Holstein made his pledge Tuesday morning in what’s been a fascinating recruiting saga surrounding the passers vying to replace Bryce Young. It adds intrigue to the speculation surrounding No. 1 prospect, Arch Manning, who is scheduled to make an official visit to Alabama on June 10.

Holstein is the No. 54 overall prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 8 quarterback, according to the 247Sports composite.

The Zachary, Louisiana rising senior decommitted from Texas A&M and reopened his recruitment.

At 6-foot-4, 222 pounds, Holstein has the prototypical size for an elite quarterback. He also considered Florida, LSU, Miami, Ohio State and others before committing to Alabama, according to 247Sports.

Holstein earned a trip to the prestigious Elite 11 camp earlier in May with a standout performance at the Las Vegas regional.

As a junior at Zachary, Holstein threw for 3,200 yards and 44 touchdowns while leading his school to a perfect 15-0 record.
