Nicholasville (AP) – The German Olympic starter Hurly Long has received the largest prize money of his professional golf career.

The 26-year-old native of Heidelberg came fourth in the Barbasol Championship in the US state of Kentucky with a total of 267 strokes and pocketed 181,300 US dollars.

American Trey Mullinax won the $3.7 million tournament in Nicholasville, which included both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour. The 30-year-old beat his compatriots Kevin Streelman (264 strokes) and Mark Hubbard (266) on the par 72 course with 263 strokes and thus qualified for the fourth major tournament of the year, the British Open, starting Thursday in St Andrews, Scotland.

Matti Schmid from Regensburg, who was still at the top of the leaderboard after three rounds, gambled away his good starting position with a weak final round of 77 and ended up sharing eighth place with 271 strokes. Mannheim’s Yannik Paul (273) came in 20th.
