How many countries are in the world?

Despite the fact that Miss Universe has several participants, not all countries in the world have a representative. The United Nations (UN) recognizes 193 sovereign nations as member states, plus two non-member observer states, for a total of 195. However, 195 is not the total count of nations, as Taiwan and Kosovo are sometimes recognized but not fully supported by the UN.

On the other hand, the number of recognized countries depends on each country, since some recognize the Vatican and others do not, while other countries, in addition to Taiwan and Kosovo, are usually recognized. That is why the number of recognized countries is between 150 and 200.
